Volunteers help us deliver human rights, educational and community initiatives. We involve people in specific tasks according to the Organisation’s needs, the volunteer’s experience and relevant safety considerations.
Completing the form is an application to volunteer. It does not automatically result in engagement and does not create an agreement with the Organisation.
How to get involved
- Complete the volunteer application. Tell us about your interests, skills and preferred way of contributing.
- Wait for our response. When a suitable opportunity becomes available, we will contact you, clarify the information and invite you to a short conversation.
- Agree a specific role. Before work begins, we will agree the task, timeframe, format, coordinator and necessary safety requirements.
We may not always be able to offer a task immediately, as our need for volunteers depends on current projects.
Before volunteering begins
Before work begins, we agree with the volunteer:
- the task and expected result;
- the timeframe, schedule and format of cooperation;
- a coordinator from the Organisation;
- the necessary safety and confidentiality requirements;
- access, equipment or materials, where needed;
- possible reimbursement of expenses, where available.
For a one-time or short task, the arrangement may be confirmed by email. If a role is long-term, regular or involves greater responsibility, the Organisation may offer a separate written agreement after the role has been defined.
Volunteering is voluntary and unpaid. It does not replace paid work and does not create an employment relationship.
Rights and responsibilities
A volunteer has the right to
- receive a clear explanation of the task and the necessary briefing;
- know whom to contact for support;
- work in a safe and non-discriminatory environment;
- decline an unlawful, unsafe or unagreed task;
- end their volunteering by informing the coordinator;
- make a complaint or report a concern without retaliation or harassment.
We expect a volunteer to
- perform only agreed tasks and remain within the authority given;
- respect the rights, dignity and privacy of other people;
- not engage in discrimination, violence, harassment or exploitation;
- protect personal and confidential information;
- use documents, access, property and resources responsibly;
- inform the coordinator about errors, risks or conflicts of interest;
- not speak on behalf of the Organisation without prior approval.
Safety and expenses
Safety
We assess risks according to the specific role. Work involving children, survivors, aid recipients, funds, personal data or internal systems may require additional briefing, screening or ongoing coordination.
A volunteer should not perform a task that creates an unagreed risk to themselves or other people.
Expense reimbursement
The Organisation may reimburse expenses directly connected with an agreed task where this has been arranged in advance.
After the role has been defined, the volunteer receives guidance on reimbursement. The type and maximum amount of any expense must be agreed with the coordinator before it is incurred.
Complaints and personal data
How to report a concern
If, while volunteering, you experience discrimination, unsafe conduct, harassment, a breach of confidentiality, suspected fraud or another concern, contact us through the form on the Contacts page or at info@kaplvested.info.
How application data is used
The application uses Google Forms. The information provided is used to review your application, contact you and identify a possible role. More information is available in our Privacy Policy.
Ending the cooperation
When volunteering ends, unfinished materials should be handed over to the coordinator, and any property, documents and access provided for the tasks must be returned. The duty to protect personal and confidential information continues after the cooperation has ended.
