Recovery and Safety: Psychosocial Support for Children and Women During the War
About the project
In the framework of the grant project 'Recovery and Safety: Psychosocial Support for Children and Women During the War' under agreement No. 2026/04/PS-13 within the grant program 'COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITIES AFFECTED BY THE WAR. SPRING AND SUMMER 2026' as part of the Project 'Comprehensive Support for Children, Families, and Communities Affected by the War', funded by the European Union and implemented by the Representative Office of the Solidarity Fund PL in Ukraine within the PRO_MentalHealth Psychosocial Program.
Target Audience
The main target groups are internally displaced children and adolescents, children from families connected to military service (children of military personnel, veterans, fallen Defenders of Ukraine, families of missing persons, and prisoners of war), and women experiencing significant psycho-emotional stress due to the war.
Expected Results
As a result of the project's implementation, children, adolescents, and women affected by the war will have improved psycho-emotional well-being, lower levels of tension and anxiety, and a stronger sense of personal safety.
Children and adolescents will develop practical skills in self-regulation, recognizing their own emotions, coping with stress, and seeking support. Through group, creative, movement, and nature-oriented activities, they will be able to better interact with peers, rebuild trust, and form supportive social connections.
Participants in children's camps will strengthen their self-confidence, ability to work in a team, show initiative, and react more safely to daily challenges. Within the framework of safety programs, children and adolescents will also better understand the rules of safe behavior and be able to apply them in simulated life situations.
Women with children among internally displaced persons will gain a space for psycho-emotional recovery, reduction of exhaustion symptoms, and restoration of internal resources. They will better understand their own needs, master accessible self-support methods, and have more opportunities to seek professional help after the retreats.
Through further counseling, referrals to specialists, and support via online channels, some participants will continue to use psychosocial services after the camps and retreats conclude. This should contribute to preserving positive changes and integrating them into daily life.
In the longer term, the project will contribute to better social adaptation for children, adolescents, and women, strengthening their psychological resilience, and forming supportive connections in the communities where they reside.
