About the project

The project aims to increase the motivation of Roma children to learn, develop their leadership qualities, and create more favorable conditions for social integration and self-realization. The project focuses on children aged 10 to 14 who face social, economic, and cultural barriers in accessing education and development opportunities.

The project combines non-formal education, mentorship support, cultural and educational events, and practical training. Up to 20 children participate in interactive classes, trainings, excursions, visits to museums, cultural institutions, and other socialization activities. The program helps participants better understand the history and culture of the Roma people and Ukraine, develop communication skills, teamwork abilities, show initiative, and interact with representatives of other social groups.

A separate area of work involves the parents of Roma children. Parenting skills development trainings contribute to a better understanding of children's needs, the use of non-violent communication, the provision of emotional support, and the formation of a positive attitude towards education. Parental involvement strengthens the connection between the educational program and children's daily lives.

The project also creates opportunities for the practical manifestation of leadership. Participants join joint activities with children from Roma communities and other social groups, apply the knowledge gained, learn to interact, and can pass on their experience to other children in their own environment.

Expected Results

Roma children involved in the project will strengthen their motivation to learn and better understand the connection between education, personal development, and future opportunities. Thanks to mentorship support, non-formal education, and positive participation experience, they will gain more self-confidence and readiness to continue learning and developing.

Participants will improve their communication, teamwork, interaction, self-presentation, and leadership skills. Familiarity with the history and culture of the Roma people and Ukraine will contribute to strengthening positive identity, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging to the community and society.

Joint activities with children from various social groups will expand the experience of safe interaction, help overcome social isolation, and create conditions for forming new connections. Participants will be able to apply acquired skills in their communities, support other children, and become positive role models for peers.

Parents will better understand the importance of education, emotional support, and responsible parenting for children's development. They will have practical tools to support learning motivation, constructive communication, and create a more favorable home environment for children's learning and self-realization.

Leaders of Roma communities, representatives of educational institutions, and authorities will receive generalized information about the educational needs of Roma children and the factors influencing their motivation and social integration. Developed expert proposals will form a practical basis for the development of non-formal education, mentorship, and child and youth leadership in Roma communities.

In the long term, combining work with children, parents, communities, and authorities will contribute to creating more favorable conditions for realizing Roma children's right to education, reducing social barriers, and forming a new generation of active and confident young leaders.
