EUphoria: Intercultural Dialogue and EU Civic Values for Ukrainian Youth

About the project

The war in Ukraine has disrupted the lives of millions of young people, putting them at risk of displacement, uncertainty, and social isolation. Many Ukrainian youths living in EU countries face difficulties in accessing non-formal education opportunities, engaging with local communities, and understanding the civic and democratic foundations of their host societies. At the same time, youth workers often lack adapted tools and methodologies to effectively respond to the complex needs of conflict-affected youth. The EUphoria project was created to bridge this gap by offering innovative learning environments that promote inclusion, participation, and mutual understanding.

Target Audience

Youth aged 15–18 with a special focus on Ukrainian youth and other vulnerable young people with fewer opportunities; youth workers (social workers, educators, psychologists, and specialists involved in extra-curricular youth activities); Indirectly: youth organizations, public institutions, policy makers, and European society at large.

Expected Results

Ukrainian teenagers residing in European Union countries are expected to have more opportunities to communicate with local youth, participate in public life, and understand common European values of democracy, human rights, solidarity, equality, and respect for diversity.

Through intercultural and civic activities, young people will develop social, civic, and intercultural competencies, better understand their opportunities for active participation in the life of host communities, and feel a greater sense of belonging to the new social environment.

Youth workers, social workers, educators, psychologists, and other specialists will strengthen their capacity to work with youth affected by war and forced displacement. They will receive new tools and methods for inclusive, non-formal, and participatory education.

The digital civic game created within the project will help young people interactively learn European civic values and apply the acquired knowledge and skills. The developed educational approaches and materials can be used by youth workers even after the project's completion.

In the longer term, the project will contribute to strengthening intercultural dialogue, active civic participation, and the formation of more inclusive, cohesive, and resilient communities in the participating countries.
