Our organization successfully implemented a series of workshops within the international EUphoria project (Project No: 2025-1-RO01-KA220-YOU-000353151), aimed at developing civic, social, and intercultural competencies among youth. From February to April 2026, 6 thematic workshops were held in Uzhhorod, Vynohradiv, and online, engaging 74 unique participants, including youth, students, youth workers, and representatives of ethnic minorities, particularly the Roma, Hungarian, and Romanian communities.
Workshop topics included: cultural competencies and intercultural communication; active citizenship; civic competencies; social competencies; environmental protection; personal and interpersonal skills. The activities were implemented using non-formal education and participatory learning methods: role-playing games, simulations, group discussions, practical exercises, and peer-to-peer learning. A special emphasis was placed on creating a safe and inclusive space for dialogue, cooperation, and mutual learning.
One of the most striking moments was the environmental workshop in Vynohradiv, where participants created a creative performance about the future of the planet, environmental challenges, and the role of artificial intelligence in shaping sustainable development. Within the workshops, young people not only deepened their knowledge of democracy, human rights, equality, and solidarity but also worked on their own ideas for community initiatives, developed critical thinking, communication skills, and motivation for active participation in the life of their communities.
Evaluation results demonstrated positive changes in participants' level of awareness, confidence, and readiness for civic engagement. Many participants noted the practical value of the workshops and the importance of the tools gained for real-world application in their communities. The project was implemented in cooperation with Uzhhorod National University, youth workers, representatives of public organizations, schools, and the Ombudsman's Office. “These workshops helped me understand that I can influence what happens in my community, even through small actions,” one of the participants shared. We thank all participants, partners, and facilitators for their active participation, openness, and joint creation of a space for youth development, intercultural dialogue, and civic engagement.
