EUphoria: 26 Civic Education Workshops Brought Together 299 Young People Across Four Countries

The first major practical phase of the international EUphoria project, focused on civic education, intercultural dialogue, and European values, has been completed.

Partner organisations in Romania, Ukraine, Cyprus, and France conducted 26 workshops, engaging 299 young participants. Youth workers, trainers, and educators were also actively involved in the activities.

The workshops covered eight key areas of civic education: European values, democracy and human rights, active citizenship, civic competences, cultural diversity, intercultural communication, environmental sustainability, and personal and interpersonal competences.

The learning process went beyond discussing theoretical concepts. Young people took part in group work, role-playing, creative workshops, civic and environmental initiatives, debates, intercultural activities, and the use of digital tools. This approach helped transform concepts such as democracy, solidarity, equality, inclusion, and active citizenship into practical experience.

As a result of the workshops, participants deepened their understanding of European civic values, democratic participation, human rights, intercultural dialogue, and environmental responsibility. At the same time, they developed critical thinking, communication, teamwork, emotional intelligence, and self-confidence.

Particular attention within EUphoria is given to the participation of Ukrainian youth. The project creates a safe and inclusive environment where young people can share experiences, interact with people from different cultural backgrounds, and strengthen their sense of belonging through civic participation.

In Ukraine, the project partner is the Carpathian Agency for Human Rights “VESTED”. The Ukrainian workshops focused on strengthening resilience, intercultural communication, civic competences, environmental awareness, and active citizenship. Both face-to-face and online activities helped young people better understand their role in the community and explore practical ways to make a positive contribution to community life.

The infographic presenting the results of the first phase also highlights the broader impact of the programme, including stronger civic, social, and intercultural competences, a better understanding of European values, and increased confidence among young people to participate actively in community life.

The next phase of EUphoria will focus on the development of the EUphoria Digital Civic Game. The game will build on the experiences, recommendations, and learning outcomes gathered during the workshops and will help make civic education accessible to a wider audience through interactive digital learning.

EUphoria is a 24-month Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership bringing together organisations from Romania, Ukraine, Cyprus, France, and Italy. Its objective is to support the civic, social, and educational inclusion of Ukrainian young people through non-formal education, intercultural dialogue, and digital innovation.
